Single Storey Extension, Altrincham

A family home in Altrincham where the owners wanted to open up the back of the house and create a larger, brighter kitchen and living space better suited to family life. We designed and built a single-storey rear extension, managing the project from foundations through to the finishing touches. The work started with the foundations and structural work, built to the engineer’s specification, followed by the brickwork — carefully matched to the existing house so the extension blends in and looks like part of the original property rather than an addition. The roof was built and weathered in, with glazing brought in to flood the new space with light, then the project ran through the trades: plumbing and heating extended into the new room, electrics, plastering and the joinery and second-fix work to finish it. Throughout, we kept the site tidy and the owners updated, and the build was managed through to Building Control sign-off. The finished extension transformed how the ground floor works — a single, open, light-filled space the family now use every day — and it’s the kind of project that shows what a well-built single-storey extension can do for an established home.
